Cedarville scores much-needed road victory at Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, NY (01-25-2010): Cedarville University, behind game highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds from captain Ricardo Alliman, held off Roberts Wesleyan College 74-70 last night to capture a key road victory at Roberts Wesleyan College in a crucial American Mideast Conference (AMC) clash. After an early 19-10 lead, Cedarville (12-7, 4-2 AMC) found itself trailing 40-34 at the break but with 1:40 left in the contest Alliman grabbed an offensive rebound and powered it back up to give the winners the lead for good. Cedarville then closed out the game by sinking four free crucial throws in the final 20 seconds. Cedarville hosts Walsh University tomorrow in another AMC contest beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Louisville ends slump with victory over Cincinnati

Louisville, KY (01-25-2010): University of Louisville said goodbye to a three-game losing streak yesterday afternoon when it got contributions from a host of players in a 68-60 win over University of Cincinnati in a Big East Conference face-off. Center Samardo Samuels controlled the paint on his way to 14 points and five rebounds as Louisville (13-7, 4-3 Big East) recovered from a slow start to take a 33-30 halftime lead. The Cardinals, who never trailed in the second half, hit 4-of-8 three-pointers and 9-of-11 free throws to seal the victory. Louisville next faces 11th-ranked University of West Virginia on Saturday at noon in a game to be broadcasted live on ESPN.
Rutgers outclassed by Georgetown

Washington, D.C. (01-25-2010): Rutgers University fell to 0-7 in the Big East Conference after losing 88-63 by to 12th-ranked Georgetown University on Saturday afternoon in the nation’s capital. National player Mike Coburn added 10 points but Rutgers proved to be no match for one of the elite teams in the conference. Georgetown closed out the first half on a 7-0 run to take a 17-point lead then blew the game open in the early minutes of the second half. Rutgers fell to 9-10 overall and will play back-to-back road games when it travels to Milwaukee to face Marquette University tomorrow beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPNU.
Tulsa keeps Rice winless in C-USA

Tulsa, OK (01-25-2010): University of Tulsa continued its dominance at home this season with a 62-58 victory of Rice University on Saturday night in a Conference USA encounter. The Hurricanes are now 13-0 at home and also remained unbeaten in the conference at 7-0. Seven-foot center Jerome Jordan fought double-teams all night but still managed to deliver 11 points and nine rebounds as Tulsa improved to 16-3 overall. Both teams shot poorly as Rice made only 38 percent of its shots from the field while Tulsa connected on only 40.4 percent. Tulsa travels to Birmingham tomorrow to face University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) at 7:00 p.m. CT in a game to decide the conference frontrunner.
